So a bunch of my medications, I take 4 now, plus 2 supplements and baby aspirin every morning, ran out at the same time. I ordered refills, but some had none left, meaning Walgreens would have to reach out to the doctors. One of those prescriptions was Meslamine, which I take for my Ulcerative Colitis. I was originally supposed to get a 3-month supply, and it was going to cost $265. That's more than I've ever paid for it, but WHATEVER. I was willing to pay it. It's better than the alternative, which is living on the toilet, hoping my insides stay inside. Today though, I had a televisit with my GI doc. He saw the order from Walgreens, but wanted to up my dosage, and make it only 1-month instead of 3. Cool, sounds good to me! After the call, I check with Walgreens, and they have the order. It's $391 for 1-month. Over $100 more than the 3-month supply. I reach out to see what the hell is going on, and they say my insurance is to blame. They say the previous order, that was never filled, was already claimed (they paid $0.00 of it btw, all on me), and so they won't approve the new order. Now here's the thing, I never got the first order, and even if I did, they didn't pay anything towards it anyway. Putting that aside though, if it was all going to be out-of-pocket for me anyway, which did the price get higher for fewer pills?? I need to move to any country with a modern healthcare system. This is ridiculous. Hopefully my $300,000 surgery for my cochlear implant doesn't get rejected too!
